Replacement bench dedicated to Policemen who lost their lives in 1978 storms.
The replacement for the much used bench at the foot of St Michael's Church entrance steps has been installed today. The bench was custom made by local carpenter Peter Trimble based in the Tresprison Industrial Estate.
At the request of Mrs Deirdre Childs it was unanimously agreed by the Town Council's Amenities Committee to dedicate the seat to PC Joe Childs and PC Martin Reid - Helston based Policemen who tragically lost their lives in Porthleven during the srotms of 12th and 13th December 1978.
Mrs Childs was instrumental in providing he original bench when serving on Helston Town Council in 1998.
