Mayor's Foodbank Christmas Appeal

Published: 08 December 2020

Helston & The Lizard Foodbank supports local families and individuals who are in need throughout the year.

Town Mayor, Councillor John Martin, is proud, once again, to be supporting the Helston & the Lizard Foodbank with a donation from the Mayor’s Fund of £500 to provide additional food to those most vulnerable individuals and families in the Helston area.

“This year I am continuing the work, established over several years, by inviting the whole town to contribute food or money. I am heartened that so many in our community have in recent years stepped forward to help”… Helston Town Mayor.

“We very much appreciate all those able to support the Foodbank Christmas Appeal, which enables us to continue in supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our local community. This year we are seeing an increase in the Christmas hampers of over 40% on last year, which is so sad to see, yet we live in such an amazing community that see the need and fulfill that need! Makes you so proud to be a Helstonian!” … David Williams, Development Manager, Mustard Seed and Helston & The Lizard Foodbank.

Should you wish to join the Mayor’s Fund in assisting the foodbank this Christmas, the Town Council is collecting donations. Cheques should be made payable to the “Town Mayor’s Welfare Fund” and sent to The Town Clerk, Helston Town Council, The Guildhall, Helston TR13 8ST and marked ‘Foodbank’. If you wish to make a donation online please email for bank details.

Donations of food can be dropped to The Mustard Seed, 14-16 Wendron Street and other locations around the town. For more information please contact Mustard Seed ( or 01326 564194).
