Mayor's Christmas Appeal 2020

Published: 02 February 2021

Thank you very much to all who kindly donated to the Mayor’s Welfare Fund for Helston’s Foodbank Christmas Appeal. A total of £1,420 was raised to enable Mustard Seed to continue in supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our local community.

Your generosity during these challenging times is humbling.

Councillor John Martin, Helston Town Mayor

“This year saw a very large increase over last year, (somewhat expected) with 110 hampers going out to local families and individuals feeding 392 people (205 of which were children).

The hampers not only contained all that was needed to provide an excellent Christmas meal but also extra food to feed the family over the Christmas period.

The task of making this happen, let alone in a Covid safe way, was challenging, but made all the easier by the large team of volunteer drivers, all of whom made the operation slick and safe on Christmas eve morning”.

David Williams, Development Manager, Mustard Seed and Helston & the Lizard Foodbank.
