Support given by Mayor’s Fund

The Mayor and Mayoress have been busy raising funds for the Mayor’s Fund. At the Annual Town Meeting in April, the Mayor presented Dr Ken Whittle of the The League of Friends of Helston Community Hospital, with a cheque for £1200, bringing the total amount donated to the League of Friends in the Mayor’s first Civic Year to £2200. Other support given by the Mayor recently has included donating £150 towards a musical instrument for a Year 10 student at Helston Community College; £100 towards The Andrew Oliver Big Heart Fund, a charity set up in memory of a local taxi driver to raise money towards a 24-hour access defibrillator; £3000 to Helston Football Club towards works being carried out at the Club; and the restoration of the Book of Common Prayer 1799 that was discovered recently in the Town Council’s strong room. The restored prayer book was re-dedicated at the Mayor’s Civic Service recently and will now be displayed in The Guildhall.
